is Botswana's capital.
Named after Kgosi Gaborone who led teh batlokwa tribe into the area in the 1880's.

Gaborone is a modern city bustling with shopping malls, restaurants, international hotels, sports and night clubs.

Maun
known as the gateway to the Okavango - Maun is the tourism capital of Botswana being the headquarters of countless safari and air charter operations.

Visiting Times

April to November:
large number of animals migrate to the Okavango
November/December are calving months

January to March: see large populations of game migrating to the summer grazing area and a time when the delta comes alive with hundreds of bird species

March & April: will see thousands of zebras and other animals migrating towards the Savuti area of Chobe national park

What to Bring

Clothing - In summer, lightweight, light-coloured cottons are preferable.
Dress is casual in Botswana.

Bring a lightweight jacket and/or pullover for unexpected temperature changes.

Footwear -
comfortable walking shoes - sandals or flip flops

Sun Protection -
this is essential. Wear a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

Other -
binoculars - torch - matches - penknife - water bottle - insect repellent - lip salve - water purification tablets - sewing kit - safety pins - tweezers - masking tape.

A basis first aid kit is advisable.
